Personal Progression

Authentic Voice 

Gurkiran Kaur honours the ancient practice of Yoga in aims of accessibility, visibility and equity as she guides individuals through a voice session. Gurkiran offers holistic voice workshops designed to bring the holistic self to the self. Utilising the entirety of actors’ bodies as a toolbox to be able to reach the true potential for the unique and authentic individual self. By exploring the individual self, we will honour the process of marrying the original pure breath to the connected pure voice enhancing authentic connection. Here we take ownership of our voice - the final manifestation of creativity.

Bridging the Authentic Voice to Text

Gurkiran is a fan of the "moment", the "beat", the "pause" all in which she feels honours the journey of transition. Using her method of the triple A, Gurkiran offers a method to connect the Author, to the Actor to their Audience through the utility of the collective breath of connection. From immersion of connection to the breath, to the inner tone, to the outer sounds and the realise and release through the voice; speech.

Accent Adoption

Appropriate Accessible Accent Adoption Approach

Through trials, Gurkiran Kaur has developed a method on how to coach actors on various accents efficiently but effectively. This method responds to and is therefore based on accent learning to be accessible and efficient to all including those with neurodivergence. Through core objective listening and with an aim to mimic to match to meet, actors learn in a way to find a natural home in their bodies for new accents and embody in a connected engaged mode. 

South Asian Accents

The South Asian Accent Workshops - Native & Diaspora

With the call for actors with a South Asian background on the recognition and increase, Gurkiran has curated a playful South Asian accent workshop focusing on the key sounds in an attempt to honour the countries considered South Asia; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Seychelles and Sri Lanka. These workshops have been purpose built for any actors with any South Asian heritage and those from the Middle-East in order to address the work appropriately.   

Middle Eastern  Accents

The Middle Eastern Accent Workshops

With the call for actors with Middle Eastern heritage on the recognition and increase, Gurkiran has curated a Middle Eastern accent workshop focusing on the key sounds in an attempt to honour the countries considered Middle Eastern; Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United States of Arab Emirates and Yemen. These workshops have been purpose built for any actors with any Middle Eastern and South Asian heritages in order to address the work appropriately.
