GURKIRAN KAUR

Voice, Dialect & Communication Coach & Teacher
Gurkiran Kaur is a professionally trained actor, a certified authentic yoga teacher and a qualified voice and dialect coach from London. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London before training as an actor at The Bridge Theatre Training Company in London. She has a Master of Arts degree in Voice Studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Gurkiran has worked at a number of drama schools and with private and corporate clients and has coached over 90 professional productions.
Gurkiran is a member of the Voice and Speech Teacher's Association (VASTA). She is part of the EduCore Leadership team and was a Junior Board Member in 2021-2023. Gurkiran is the UK Symposium Director for VASTA at Leeds School of Arts Symposium, which is taking place in October 2024. She has spoken at global conferences; Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’s Intersections 2021, Voice Association of Speech and Teacher’s Association’s Rising Voices 2021, Converging Pathways 2022, Presented a Group Research Project in 2023 and presented it's development in 2024 for Integral Voice. Gurkiran is now a Board Member for VASTA and also a member of the British Voice Association (BVA).
Gurkiran works in detail; her way of working is practical, accurate and simple offering tangible deliverables for actors and clients. She honours Ancient practices to approach voice work and believes in serving the people in the space ensuring inclusivity, equity and accessibility.
Theatre, TV & Film
Gurkiran has coached over 50 professional theatrical and TV productions including Hampstead Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Bush Theatre, Young Vic and Shakespeare's Globe and The Royal Shakespeare Company. She specialises in both voice and dialect work. With the call for actors with a South Asian background on the recognition and increase, Gurkiran particularly specialises in South Asian Indigenous, Native, Migrant and accents of the Diaspora.
Drama Schools
Gurkiran works at a number of drama schools in and across London and delivers virtual classes and workshops. She has experience teaching practical voice, classical and contemporary texts and accents and offers show support for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Business & Corporate
Gurkiran holds virtual sessions with private clients. She delivers in-person vocal well being workshops and confidence in communication workshops with organisations and companies. Between 2021-2022, Gurkiran was the vocal well being coach for the partnerships between The National Theatre and British Land.
Field of Voice
Gurkiran is a member of the British Voice Association (BVA) as the Voice And Speech Trainers' Association (VASTA). She is part of the EduCore Leadership Team, served as a Junior Board Member (2021-2023) and is the UK Symposium Director.
